‘We wanted to use the bulkhead wall for storage,’ says Thornley. ‘It was the most efficient space for it.’ Powder-coated units with marble shelving fits here, with storage in the steps, too. The flooring is oak with a soft, greyish tone. ‘I don’t like synthetic colours,’ says Thornley. ‘We spent weeks getting just the right muted shade for the boards.’ barge
